Bluetooth issues with iOS 11

We are continuing to work with Apple regarding Bluetooth connection issues with our devices. We have released Garmin Connect Mobile version 4.1.5 that includes improvements for iOS connectivity. Please continue to post any feedback in this thread.
  • To be honest, I've had connectivity/uploading issues with every Garmin cycling unit I've owned including a 305, 500,810 and now a 1030 on several different iPhones. Everything works fine for a few days and then refuses to sync. My wife has also owned the same units and phones and hers does the same thing.

    In other words, they've never made a stable upload/sync platform.

    I get the busy signal when trying to pair 1039 to iPhone S. Will likely return it for a Wahoo as this seems to have been an issue since realease almost a year ago. This is an incredibly frustrating product

    With version 4 OS I had no problems ever with connection between ph and 1030. Last week updated the 1030 to version 5 and now for the life of me can’t get it to upload a ride. The 2 are talking to each other I can see in GC but will not load up.
    Comes up with this error.
    IPhone 6s with latest OS.
    rebooted both units and no change.
  • I was very hopeful that the latest Garmin Connect mobile app update (iphone) yesterday would fix the Bluetooth stability issues with the BT_1030 but nope. tired of this! Hoping it's not too late to exchange it...
  • Recent activities finally started a LiveTrack that lasted to the end. Not sure if the latest update fixed that. If I manually connect "BT_Edge1030" device protocol on iPhone's Bluetooth device list with my Edge1030 it seems to finally STAY CONNECTED now. Hope this lasts. However I still have to manually connect that one - while the second Bluetooth device in the list "Edge1030" is automatically connected with GCM app. Other problems still persist though - but this has to place in this thread.

    Has there been any update from Garmin since this 2017 update above? I continue to have bluetooth sync issues as have others. Repeatedly forget the devices, reinstall and it will work for a few days and then when everything says connected it never syncs and says 'busy'. What is the official word from Garmin on this well documented issue? Very frustrating to spend $600 on a high-end item only to have it consistently not work.

    Still no joy. Updated Edge 1030 to Firmware 5.0. Updated iPhone 8S to iOS 11.4.1. Updated Garmin Mobile Connect (GMC) to 4.8.0.16. Turned off Garmin and phone devices and rebooted numerous times. Manually cancelled devices on Garmin and Garmin Mobile Connect and reconnected/paired. Had GMC up while trying to connect. Worked on the problem for almost a month.

    So no Live Track, no messaging from phone, no weather, no auto sync to Garmin Mobile Connect.

    Nothing.

    I am at the end of my rope and my time to return it. I wanted to love it. I have a 310XT, an Edge 800 and my wife has the Garmin Vivofit. Was looking at the Fenix 5S. That is how much I love the Garmin environment. My wife is also coached using Garmin software for running.

    But this is ridiculous. It is a total failure to perform a basic function represented as being part of the product. In fact, a suite of functions.

    I am regrettably returning it. I’ll do a Wahoo or something else.

    If Garmn is reading, if someone has a fix, or if I am simply wrong in what I have tried to do, I hope someone will throw me a life preserver.

    Ah well.
