We are continuing to work with Apple regarding Bluetooth connection issues with our devices. We have released Garmin Connect Mobile version 4.1.5 that includes improvements for iOS connectivity. Please continue to post any feedback in this thread.
Test this morning on IOS 11.2.1 with 4.1.5.1 shows Edge 1030 connected in BT settings of phone when 1030 is turned on (BT_Edge1030 not) and no bluetooth symbol connected on edge. When i open GC app 1030 bleeps phone connected and bluetooth symbol is showing on but in my phone BT settings BT_Edge1030 says not connected. When i close GC my 1030 bleeps and says phone disconnected and the BT symbol on the 1030 goes. In my phone BT settings Edge1030 says connected and BT_Edge1030 not connected.I switch off the 1030 and in BT settings of phone Edge1030 goes disconnected as it should. So this for me is the same as when i bought the unit and i must open and have GC open in the background or incident detection wont work and my ride wont auto upload when i click save at the end of rides.
I am running IOS 11.2.1 on my iPhone 8 with GC version 4.1.5.1. I have repaired my unit twice, but still have the same issue. The 1030 has no problem with the "Edge 1030" BT stream, but can't seem to reconnect the BT_Edge1030 to the iPhone. Hopefully this will be shorted in future GC updates.
Shawn explain how Bluetooth works: "The Edge 1030 connects to your phone using both Bluetooth Classic (BTC) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technologies. BTC allows for much faster transfer speeds than BLE, but also uses more power. During normal operation, the Edge 1030 stays connected to the phone only using BLE and does not stay connected to the phone over BTC. When larger files need to be transferred, the Edge 1030 automatically connects to the phone using BTC to transfer the files and disconnects when finished. So, when looking at the Bluetooth devices in the Bluetooth menu of your phone, it is normal to see two connections and for one of them to be disconnected."
BT_Edge connects when needed for file transfer....
Thank you for the clarity MaGo77. The issue is that when I finish my ride my Garmin is looking for the phone to upload, but can't find it and therefore can't connect.

Repaired my Garmin. Turned off wifi and set rides to upload when saved. All worked fine on Bluetooth.
I can pair the BT_Edge1030 but absolutely noway to pair Edge1030 and then no connection to GCM. I have IPhone8, IOS 11.2.1, last GCM. Is there something I can do to solve it?
Fabiosko i had to remove all pairings from my Iphone 7 to 1030 and visa versa and then turn them both off for a minute before powering back up and pairing successfully. Maybe that will be the same for you?
