Hi Alan, Lynn from SJBC here. I'm having the same problem with my Garmin 1030. Yesterday it appeared to die. We've tried recharging it with multiple different USB cables, different wall chargers, different laptops. She's dead. Is there anything I can do? Send it into Garmin for repair?

my 1 year old 1030 exhibited the same issue. Tried changing the cable and still the screen was totally dark. Then followed someone's suggestion of resetting the unit by holding the the power button down for 15 seconds while USB was plugged in and presto, the screen lit up and charging began. Best of luck.
this (charging it overnight and then hitting the power on button for 10+ seconds) worked for me! woo hoo! thank you so much. I thought it was junked. Phew!
