Where is my 1030 Firmware Upgrade Garmin?

Okay Garmin dropped the new 530/830 today. I truly hope they duplicate all the new features via firmware to their flagship 1030. It would be hard to imagine paying $600 for the flagship model with less functions????

Garmin?
  • There was already a thread talking about this, you should have checked first before stating a new one. And yes according to this review below by DC Rainmaker, Garmin confirmed the new features will all come to the 1030 via an update; all features except for Trailforks integration due to licensing issues.

I wonder if they'll duplicate the faulty screen as well on the new models? I've had my 1030 replaced twice due to the screen delaminating and developing a blue halo with the touchscreen grid visible, and the latest replacement unit has also started to display the same fault.

Wow, how childish and impatient. You could give them some time to release the features for the Edge 1030.
  • Thank you to those brave forum souls that responded to the post with disparaging comments and name calling! But I was hoping Garmin might take the time to drop a press release or at least a forum sticky announcing the major new features coming to the Garmin 1030 owners, after some seeing buzz about the subject. Currently we still only have hearsay from a third party internet product reviewer.

    Best Regards All!
  • I hope Garmin focuses on fixing the most urgent bugs first instead of adding more features which might cause even more problems:
    crashes during activity
    bluetooth and livetrack
    routing

Garmin, can you comment on when the new features will be updated?
  • I doubt they have a firm timeline, what DCR mentioned in the review comments (I'm paraphrasing here) is that when the 530 and 830 are released and used by a lot of people there will be new bugs discovered, and the devs will be focused on fixing those. Once they've got those products stabilised they'll backport to the 1030, including the bugfixes.

The last thing we need on the 1030 is new features that aren't fully stabilised, there are still some outstanding bugs like the battery display after sleep and BT unreliability.
