Trailforks for Edge 1030

Currently we have two options.
1. Trailforks app - pull "routes" as needed. I don't really like this option as you get a lot of random junk.
2. Trailforks Garmin Basemaps - $15 donation per state. This is nice, but tends to cover up the OSM mountain bike maps that haven't made it to Trailforks.

So the newer Edge 530 / 830 have Trailforks built in, according to DCR review. This particular feature is said to *not* come to the 1030 due to licensing purposes.
95% of my riding is off-road and I've always gone through the headache of making custom maps. This 'built in' Trailforks map looks to be a great step in the right direction with the way it it said to indicate trail grades, etc. I really don't want to ditch my 1030 for an 830 after sitting through two years of bugs and just now getting the remote working.

**If anyone from Garmin is reading this, can you please confirm if us 1030 users will have any option to purchase these maps and receive updates on them, due to the 'licensing' issues?
  • I seriously think it´s not a matter of licensing but a marketing strategy. Considering the price we´ve paid for the 1030, they should put all these new features on it for free

I just asked Garmin Support through chat, and there are no current plans to bring over the Trailforks data to the 1030, aside from using the 3rd party methods previously mentioned .
This has got to be the most disappointing news I've come across while owning Garmin products. Why they wouldn't even offer the map as a purchase - I don't know.
They're finally making the devices worth-while for mountain bikers and the only thing upgrading from a 1000 to a 1030 gave me was a year and a half of headaches. So now my decision (now that the 1030 no longer gives me fits) - is weather to keep wasting time making my own mountain bike maps, or sell my 1030 and deal with the smaller screen size of the 830....and the only reason I moved from 1000 -> 1030 in the first place was for the bigger screen! Ugh.
