BLE HRM reconnection issues with 7.20 & 7.30

Hi,

I've found an issue with my Polar H7 BLE strap since upgrading to firmware version 7.20. The problem has persisted in 7.30.

If the sensor moves out of range of the 1030, which almost always happens if I leave my bike outside a cafe and go inside, when I return to the bike the sensor will not reconnect, neither automatically, via the refresh button in the pull down sensor menu, nor via disable and re-enable of sensor in sensor management screens.

The only way I can get the sensor to pair again is to stop the activity, reboot the 1030 and then it will automatically pair afterwards.

I have attached a FIT file where this behaviour occurred. I walked away from the bike at the 57 minute mark. I came back to the bike at 1h27 min mark. It picked up the power meter once I started riding, but I needed to initiate the device restart, which commenced at 1h27m23s and it picked up the HRM once it had completed rebooting at 1h28m14s.

I have an RTL-500 paired to the head unit, as well as an ANT+ power meter.

Thanks,
James

I can confirm the same on 7.2 and 7.3. My Suunto BLE HRM connects fine - works fine - until I step away from the bike. Once the connection is lost - I have to reboot my 1030 to get it to reacquire. I can provide fit files showing the same behavior if need be.

    I
  • I have exactly the same issue with my Suunto Smart HRM. I did a hard reset of my device (Garmin support asked me to do) but it doesn‘t solve the problem.
  • Same problem and behavior here with two 1030 and both with h7 straps, got the issue also with a quarq powermeter, but once switched to ant, instead of bluetooth, the problem got solved.

So as you state if the device suspends, even if it do before to start an activity, not necesary you have to start an activity, then you wake up to start/resume, the measure got freeze and need to restart the device to read it. Can say as other with other brands straps or sensor like an powermeter, with bluetooth may is having this issue when resumr activities.
