Notification E-bike battery is empty and Di2 Disruption

Since upgrading to FW 7.30 my garmin edge 1030 ocassionally give me notifications that an e-bike battery is empty eventhough I am riding a standard bike. While my friends find it quite funny that I was "outed" for ebike doping ;-) I have to check off the notification while riding and sometimes this notification keep coming in some type of a loop which is quite nerve racking when trying to concentrate on riding. Naturally the screen is blocked until I acknowledge the notification. In addition, this notification seemed to go into a loop (acknowleded/re-notified) which at the same time caused a complete blockage of my Di2 network that lucky stopped after the notification loop stopped.

Has anyone else experienced such issues?

TIA Don

    Job Don

I had exactly the same problem on the Tour de Yorkshire sportive yesterday. It turned my bike into fixed speed.

    message e-bike battery empty

i ended up removing my seat post & disconnecting the battery. After reconnecting Di2 said 100% battery.

    garmin 1030 7.3 software

I wonder if using e-tube I accidentally clicked e-bike the day before.

  • Hi Steve, just wanted to update you on my experience. On Saturday, it happened again while riding on cobbles. I am not sure exactly the cause but I suspect that it may have something to do with the vibrations. Since I am no ANT+ expert, I have no idea if it would be a cable problem, headset (Edge1030) problem or battery (BT-DN110) problem. The only diagnostic is the error code for the ebike battery (which I don't have) and the complete shifting failure. At least my problem seems to self correct after pressing the check box for the error message. If I find something, I will let you know. best regards, Don

  • Hi Steve, just a warning. I had another malfunction. This time on a big sportive and I lost all function for good. I removed the seatpost and disconnected everything and reconnected everything. No success :-( At home the e-tube recognises all pieces but I can't get anything to work. I suspect that the BT-DN110 has a defect. I don't really know how one can diagnose these things without an SM-PCE1 (if at all) but since my battery is 29 months past purchase I have no chance for a replacement. Wishing you luck!! Don

Hi Don, thanks for the advice

My Di2 battery also went again & in a similar situation going over some pot holes. Was a 2 minute  job to sort by disconnecting the battery unit in the seat post to get going again.

Thanks for the warning, I will purchase a new battery,

    thanks Steve
