Stages Power/cadence dropouts when using ANT+.

Hi

I'm using a Garmin Edge 1030 combined with a Stages R8000 Gen3 Power Meter.
I'm experiencing a lot of power/cadance drop outs when the Stages is connected with ANT+.

Not a big issue you will think, just connect it with BLE and it will be fixed.
Yes indeed, bluetooth does not give me dropouts but when I pause an activity and resume it. I see the power meter is still connected to the Edge 1030 but is not returning any data.
The 'fix' is to pause the ride, shut down the device (completely), start the device and resume the ride.
This is very annoying.

Is this a known problem and if so: what is the real fix for it?
Anyone experiencing the same issues?

Thanks!

I have the same issue with my Edge 1030, on top of this when the Power meter does reconnect I also get excessively high Power readings - (in excess of 2000W) Since upgrading to Version 7.30 and the issue is not just specific to the Stages Power meter, I also have Garmin Vector 3 dual sided PM on another bike which is also having the same issue.

Firmware versions are upto date on both stages PM and Vector 3 PM - this problem never occurred prior to upgrading the Edge Firmware to 7.30

I've emailed Garmin support with the issue earlier this week, if and when I receive a response i'll advise further.
  • Here is a link to an FAQ regarding this problem. Additionally only pair the power meter with one recording device. This would include any other watches or mobile device. For any further issues, please reach out to Garmin Support.

I am having the same trouble only don’t have a power meter I have a Garmin HR strap and a Garmin cadence sender. If I pause the activity and restart it all connectivity is lost until I turn the device off and restart it.

  • same here, drop outs occurring randomly, but frequently, ever 1 or 2 rides, on 2 different bikes, and sensor sets. ALL devices get dropped, Stages (2nd gen and 3rd gen), Garmin Speed sensor, Wahoo HRM, Varia radar, Ultegra Di2..again all different sensors on each bike. The Edge 1030 will drop all sensors, I get a beep saying radar is disconnected, then a couple of seconds later they all reconnect. On long rides, 100 km, it may happen twice.
