Data Recording Interval - Smart - Not so smart - recording every second

I just returned from a brevet, a 200k and was reviewing my user data. Apparently my Edge 1030, in Smart Recording mode is sampling data every second. My file has 41,000 plus data points. What happened to Smart Recording interval

If you are paired with a power meter it will switch to using 1 second data.

The power meter is on the trainer, on a different profile, and the sensor was deactivated.

Do I need to delete the sensor from the Edge?

Why you need smart ?

I mean Edge 1030 has enough battery and storage space for longer centuries rides

I ride long brevets: 100k, 200k, 300k, 400k, 600k, 1200k
Sometimes I want to review sections of rides in Basecamp, and don't like scrolling forever with too many data points
