In connect.garmin.com I can see there are two updates (map + firmware). But neither of them is pushed to the garmin 1030. I do not have windows so I use only andorid connect IQ app.
Map updates can only be delivered via a PC because of their size using Garmin Express running on either a Windows or Mac platform. Software updates should get delivered by the Garmin phone app (GCM), but they can take a long time as the update file for the1030 is 25 MB. The Edge needs to be in communication with the phone without the timer running for the transfer to be happening. You will get a better transfer rate if you can pair the 1030 with a WiFi source.
Hi, Thanks for the information. I use Linux. I guess Garmin does not provide any windows. :(
Actually I wanted to press software update check on the 1030 but it is grayed out. Probably it is able to check only via wifi and does not like bluetooth.
I read that the differences between 7.20 and 7.30 is the hung up of the 1030 when riding with cadence sensor which may be present somehow on garmin vector pedals. Do you know any other details, circumstances when it is happening or is it safe to leave the 7.20 as it is?
