Brasiliero??!!! Really Garmin??!!

I received my Edge1030 yesterday.

I was trying to do the initial configuration... And I can't see the Portuguese language.
But I see BRASILIERO.... ?!?!?!?!?:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Really Garmin??? The language is PORTUGUESE... Not Brasiliero...

But every time that I turno off the GPS Unit, when I start up, it has already changed the language to English....
BAhhhhhh...

Really Garmin?
Couldn't you make it better????

  • Mate, chill. It's funny seeing people go all emotional on a support board.
Return the device if you are not happy with it.
  • Hi Ladas112

Take easy with Garmin man. ;)

Not so big issue this. Its perfectly understable Portugues-Portugal / Portugues-Brasileiro. They can put Portugues( Brasil) like in GC, but I suppose is the size of screen of 1030 is a problem.

To issue change language, take a look in post Wi Fi Transfer / Change Language. The solution is there.

The language set in my Garmin Connect is "French", the 1030 is set to "French" and the 1030 still go back to "english" mostly when restarting after charging the battery. I had similar problem with the 820, that was solved by an update....
  • I can tell you that this is a real issue for someone who is from Portugal.

For a portuguese this gets close to an insult. (nope, no joke)

    Best regards Christian

I guess, Garmin focused initially on important languages to cover the biggest part of customers. Is there any reason why you can't use brasiliero? Not sure if they will implement something special for microstates like Vatican, Portugal, Andorra etc

Portuguese is the national language of 10 countries, the biggest being by far he Brazsil, more than 20 times bigger than Portugal (Portugal is the 4th country population wise), nevertheless qualifying of "Microstate" Portugal won't be appreciated, and in Andorra 15 percent of the population speak portuguese.

Right, Braszil is far the biggest. All others are microstates as Republika Demokratika Timor Loro Sa'e. They are not sharing exactly one single language. But different variations. So to label it Brasiliero makes absolutly sense to me as Brasil is main market and all others are bonus.
