Crazy distances

So, since having my device replaced about this time last year for bonkers elevation (every ride was at a dizzy height of 20,000 meters) all has been fine. I have got the dreaded 'halo' issue going on, but can kinda live with that. Now I have another issue with bonkers distances. Turn on my Garmin yesterday to do a ride, and just standing in the car park I was able to clock up an impressive 50kms! Today I have just turned on again to see if it was a fluke, and this time 120km in just 9 seconds! Oh yeah, ave speed was 115km/h!

So, has anyone else got this dodgy distance thing going on? I'm on 7.2 by the way and previous data etc is cleansed on a regular basis. Just tried a press and hold of the power button (waiting for Garmin splash on screen) to see if that helps. Of course now when I start an activity it's all good and zeros!

Any other suggestions before it goes back - AGAIN!
  • For me it looks like you have pressed the start-button before a correct GPS position was found.
If you have stored this ride, you can check on the map.

To avoid this issue wait after turning on your Edge until it found the correct GPS-position (you can check on the map page if the blue triangle is located well).
  • mmmmm, I'm not sure about that as I have pressed the go button loads of times previously with, or with sats being located. The recording and distances etc only start from the point sats are found.
  • What looks the track like in Garmin Connect for the affected activity?
