7.20 appears to break Turn Guidance

The secondary route for Turn Guidance was calculated and you can see the list of turns and the magenta line but nothing happens beyond that.

It seems to think that you aren't moving.

The track following works.

Another rider with a 1030 on 6.30 didn't have the problem using the same route.

The route didn't quite begin where we started. I tried restarting the route many times and it had the same problem (the Turn Guidance part didn't think I was moving). The ancient 800 was able to pick up routes in the middle reliably. The Touring had similar problem starting routes in the middle (it thought you were at the start).

  • I also had this issue with both GPX and FIT files...

One should expect the same behavior. FIT, GPX, and TCX have the same data (track points). That they are different formats doesn't matter.

That makes sense, a GPX or TCX file is converted to FIT format at the next Edge reboot anyway. In my case, I believe that the track portion of the course worked as it showed the intended route as well as my current position on it, but there were no prompts for turns. Also, the distance field stayed at zero for the entire 77 mile route. When I loaded the course, it took the usual time to calculate the route, so I thought it was going to work. Like most of my routes, the starting and ending points were the same.

After the calculation, you can click on the text at the top of the map to see the list of turns in the calculated route.

It calculates the route just fine. It just doesn't use it.

I don't think this is as much of an issue for the newer units. I put the end point short for my routes so they work better on the older units.

I had the same problem, with the unfortunately the same solution as most

Do a full reset of the dang thing, and rebuild profiles. A fairly common procedure for Garmin updates clobbering a mostly working unit

You had the problem with 7.20 and did all this and it fixed it?

    Yes
Turn by turn working for both routes: Downloaded from RWGPS, Garmin Connect, and done on the fly from Edge 1030

What is a "full reset"?" (It sounds like back to "as shipped".)

You had beta installed before 7.20?

I have downgraded to 7.00 but it is annoying that I lost training load and vo2max data
  • Same issue for me. Turn by turn navigation is totally broken. This is just sad.
  • I haven't done a reset but apart from the odd glitch no real problems with TBT for me
