7.20 appears to break Turn Guidance

The secondary route for Turn Guidance was calculated and you can see the list of turns and the magenta line but nothing happens beyond that.

It seems to think that you aren't moving.

The track following works.

Another rider with a 1030 on 6.30 didn't have the problem using the same route.

The route didn't quite begin where we started. I tried restarting the route many times and it had the same problem (the Turn Guidance part didn't think I was moving). The ancient 800 was able to pick up routes in the middle reliably. The Touring had similar problem starting routes in the middle (it thought you were at the start).

  • Martin868 - I loaded maps from this site (http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/) to my Edge 1030 and mine is giving me TBT instructions. The only map I disabled from the Map Information page was the Garmin Cycle Map. Additionally I ensured that the course Turn Guidance was enabled for courses (Touch Navigation>Courses>Saved Courses>Touch Three Lines in the Bottom Right>Enable Turn Guidance).

Thanks Matthew. Yes I am very familiar with these steps, I have been doing this for years. Turn guidance is definitely active, it does the route calculation and computes a pink line. But the resulting pink like is totally wrong, skips long sections of the course in straight lines. Nothing subtle here. I don't even need to start the ride to know is is broken. I will consider resetting the device if that is not a broadly seen issue.
  • Yesterday, I had the same exact problem (as reported at the top) with a different route.

The device recalculates even when recalculate is off.

The recalculated route appeared to work but once I got back on course, the device would move the "turn guidance" back to the start. That is, it again thought, for the turn-guidance, that I never started.
  • For me routing still not working with my custom map. But it seems to work with openfiestmap maps indeed. I use a further customized version which seems to have the issue. So I will investigate further.
  • It seem's to have a problem with 3rd part maps. After I switched back to Garmin's original map is navigation rock stable.
  • I'm using the Garmin maps.
