Sync Courses from 1030 to iPhone

So is there a way to sync courses from the gps to the connect app on my iPhone. I was able to take tracks I have in BaseCamp and drag them to the gps. They show up and I can use them. Note once opened on the gps they cannot be edited in BaseCamp.

I went from a Montana 610 on the bike for mapping and speed to the Edge 1030. So far I have this issue. Also three times I have had to remove the blutooth connections and reinstate it. Unlike the Montana a reset really wipes the Edge. Then it won’t see data copied to the card from BaseCamp. Last for now I want four data fields on the bottom of the map. Half the size of the two. I need Cadence and average speed. An arrow indicating above or below average would be good. Enough venting. Only two road rides and two indoor rides so far.
  • This is confusing.

Why do you want to move courses (files in \Garmin\Course) to your iPhone?

Note once opened on the gps they cannot be edited in BaseCamp.

The courses are fit files. BaseCamp should be able to load them. But, if the course came from BaseCamp, you should be able to make changes on the original course.

Are you using BaseCamp on this tablet? If so, copy the course files to the 1030 using a cable attached to the tablet.

You shouldn't have to reset the 1030 at all. If you have BT issues, deleting the phone from the 1030 and the 1030 from the phone and repairing should be enough. Even if that doesn't work, resetting the device probably won't fix it.

It appears you are using a microSD card in your 1030, If you need to reset the device, remove the card before resetting it.

    There's an app for that.

  • Thanks for responding. I have the MapsDashBoard. Would be perfect but I don’t know how to change the data screens. Like eta to Cadence. Also it had been blank. Then just know took a look at
it in the activity profile, loaded it and it was there. Perfect. Went to the ready to navigate and it’s there. Rested finger on it to see if I could change a data field and it’s gone. Tried to put it back and only see the labels for the top row for and instance. I’ll have to look for instructions. When all else fails. I’ll try and post a picture but this forum is hard to post with my phone. Arg. How does one edit the field using the Garmin Connect App?

The BT issue I found out how to fix after resetting the first time. Nothing like the Montana.

The 1030 works well with the WIn10 Tablet running With BaseCamp. Just can’t delete data in the BaseCamp interface. My old NUVI 500 was the same way. The Montana let me. So with the Edge I have to delete the data on the gps. Then copy updated information over. Just and extra step.

Now why why do I want to transfer courses from the 1030 to the iPhone. Not sure expect maybe a way to tranfer over and save. Use the iPhone to upload or edit the course with another app.

Just wishes. With the cold wet weather I’ve not got a lot of miles on it. But the learning curve is not as steep as my Montana. Hope to follow and race against an old course this weekend.

That would have to be a feature of the app (Mapsdashboard).

Garmin Connect Mobile is mostly an intermediate between the device and the internet. There aren't many (any?) iOS apps that work with fit files (that I know of).
