Getting Chinese/Japanese

I have an English unit whatever that means. How do I get it to display Chinese or Japanese fonts assuming I can find OSM ones ?
The regular OSM maps seems to have the names in Romanji for Japanese maps. How do the Japanese units do seaches for say Cities in Kanji ?

As far as I know:
You've got the "normal" Edge - what you call "english unit". This unit is made for languages like English, German, Spain, French and so on...
What you need is the "APAC" release of the Edge 1030. This unit is made for Asia and Pacific territory.
This both releases are not compatible!
I don't think it is possible to show Kanji on an "english" unit.

hi, if i buy japanese version of

Garmin Edge 1030 made for Japan... can the device menu be changed to english?? i dont mean maps.. but the display settings and menus? any help appreciated.

Garmin official response to me is to purchase different (additional) Edge 1040 units based on the location you go to.

Navigation will just not work appropriately for those wanting to use “ASCII” based units in Japan.

For UTF8 support, probably consider Wahoo as an alternative to Garmin.

Given the Edge 1040 is the same price as a mobile phone which displays all languages without issues (UTF8) and is a more powerful device. This is also an alternative.

Why Garmin didn't allow to display chinese character , doesn't really make sense. how could we raise this issue to their customer and look into this seriously?
