What are the 2 Bluetooth connections used for?

HI,
"My iPhone connects most times straight away via Bluetooth to my Edge 1030. When I look in my iPhone Bluetooth settings I can see 2 connections for the Edge 1030...the first one, which usually shows as 'Connected'. is "Edge 1030 Bontrager." and the second one "BT_Edge 1030 Bontrager" showing as 'Not Connected" which never auto-connects....I have to go and manually connect this by pressing it on my phones list of Bluetooth devices. Can you enlighten me as to why there are 2 connections and also why one never connects automatically?"

I sent the above message to Garmin Support and they replied with a generic ..."Remove device from Garmin Connect app, Delete Bluetooth profiles etc bla bla bla"
Theydidn't answer my main question as to why there are 2 Bluetooth Profiles and also why one never Auto-connects.
So I followed their instructions but ended up back at square one with same thing happening again. ( Also spent the good part of an hour and a half re-adding all my Garmin devices back to the GC app.)
Anyone any info on this?
Many thanks

  • It‘s normal that only one BT shows as connected. You need not manually connect the other BT.
    It‘s a question of energy-consumption.
The twice connection - usually „not connected“ - connects itself if „huge“ of data is to be transmitted - like sync your device, upload an activity, transmit a course and so on.
The steady connected BT is responsible for notifications and so on...
