Live track - Incident - After V7 upgrade

Hi
After the upgrade from 6.30 (it works without problems) to 7, i have this matter with my Edge 1030 and Iphone 7 ( IOS 12.1.4)

On the 1030 screen : Incident detection has been disabled on the Garmin Connect Mobile app. No contact information is available.

I wait a new Garmin Connect version but nothing worked better (Connect 4.15.1.2)

Livetrack doe'nt work. No mail send.

Is there something i missed ?

Thanks a lot.

regards
  • I get the same thing myself, not every time but quite often...Incident Detection is properly set up and the contacts are in Garmin Connect app. Must be a bug of some description.

I'm on Android, but upgrading to v7 (some time ago) I recall it said it 'needed' permission to access my contacts, I refused so it disabled incident detection. As I think its a very useful feature, I reluctantly went into my phone and gave the garmin app permission to access my contacts and incident detection was alive again.
I've since disabled and re-enabled a few times, through 'connected features' as it seems too sensitive and can be difficult to cancel
My Bro is a contact who often switches his main mobile off so one evening garmin rang his landline which it never did prior to v7, as I only gave it his mob no. So the key seems to be give the Garmin App permission to access contacts and make sure app is running whilst you ride.
  • I've been reluctant to let Garmin access my contact list so I no longer use Live tracking and now use the RoadID app which has always worked better than Live tracking anyway. Only takes about 30 seconds to begin the tracking at the start of a ride.

I looked to this point and the garmin app permission to access my contacts is OK. But i will try again disabled/enabled. Perhaps remove and reinstall the application, but not as a first step ...

The other thing is to make sure that Garmin Connect is running. Edge 1000 always seemed to enjoya robust connection with the phone, but 1030 I have to go into GC on my phone and 'Garmin Devices' to connect it before riding. If GC is not connected I don't see how incident detect could work, but i'm definitely no expert on the 1030. Was a fag at first but I now accept it as one of the upgrade 'benefits', primarily because it does mean saved rides now get reliably uploaded without having to plug in.
    Good Luck
  • Hi Vernim

I start Connect always so i do with the 6.30 firmware. I change nothing. i try supress the contacts and create new ones. Nothing changes.

If live track is not working only with my Iphone-edge, it's perhaps not the V7 firmware. I'm still searching/trying ...

    Thanks for your answer.

  • So, i try with firmware v7.07. No warning. I see livetrack enabled after starting the run but no mail send. Better but not working. I will try another day, perhaps ...
  • Just installed 7.20 (coming from 7.00). LiveTrack is working fine now, as long as Garmin Connect is running in the iPhone. When I start the ride, a message pops up on the 1030 (livetrack started) and on the iPhone, and a mail is sent.
v7.20 also fixed the Incident Detection. I had to go into the GC, Incident Detection, tapped on my name, pressed OK, and then a message appeared that Incident Detection was set up. In the 1030, my 3 contacts are listed now correctly.
