I’m having the same issue. About about the 60km mark on each ride, my Garmin 1030 states I have lost satellite, then appears to change the direction of my location and adds 200km + as my average pace.
While this may look good (joking), it is extremely frustrating. The only way I seem to correct this is by stating navigate on same route’ but this then affects my distance and average speed.
@Sipderbundy, I also see the same “spike” on my summary map!
Have updated the software, but can’t seem to find a solution. Starting to regrets upgrading my old Garmin Edge 510!
:-(
Not sure if the 1030 is having the same issues as the 1000 (https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/edge-1030/191918/edge-1000---gps-glonass-problem) but Garmin Support are aware of a GPS issue but have no estimate timescale for a fix as yet.
I've lost satellites repeatedly on my last 4 rides. Sometimes it finds them again, but a couple of times I have had to reboot the unit mid-ride. These are all routes that I've ridden lots of times, so there is no issue of trees or hills. My unit is about a year old - frustrating!
Yes I have been losing connection as well, particularly annoyingly at the beginning of a ride and often beeping during a ride. What similar alternatives are there to 1030 and does the newest 1030 do it? Garmins have so many glitches I am beginning to lose faith
