Copy saved fit files to replacement device to configure it?

I just received a replacement 1030 (screen halo on the previous device). I've connected the new unit to my PC, set it up in Garmin Express, and it's presently installing the latest map update.

Before I sent the faulty unit back to Garmin, I saved off the fit files for the activity profiles, and also locations.fit, records.fit, settings.fit, totals.fit, weight.fit. Can I just dump these into the /Garmin/NewFiles folder on the replacement device to get the same activity profiles and screens etc as I previously had?

Activity profiles are in the sports folder. In that folder there is a file for each of your profiles. Locations has your saved waypoints, records.fit should restore you personal bests.
Settings contains your personal setup. Power zones, hr zones etc.
  • Well, to answer my own question, yes I could. I deleted the indoor and mountain profiles from the replacement 1030, as I don't use them, copied the profile and other fit files I'd saved into the NewFiles folder on the 1030, and when it booted up, I had back everything as before.

I apologise AuldNick. I thought I had answered you by saying the profiles are contained in the Sport Folder.
In your original post you didn't mention these files.

For anybody else, if you need to send your Garmin back for any reason, backup all the files somewhere.
When your new Garmin comes then ask which files need to be replaced to get your new Garmin looking like you had it before. And this includes all the maps.
If you new Garmin has an updated version of your maps it might not look they way it used to.
