Have new 1030 Edge installed by LBS. All worked fine, and then yesterday, I noticed that it did not register any Cadence. Can anyone assist me?

I've several times had to reconnect cadence meter through the sensors menu. at start of ride. New fw update always necessitates this nowadays sometimes needing it on the ride after reconnection too. Hugely irritating especially these cold mornings when you have to remove gloves to make the f'ing thing do what its supposed to.I've noticed that reconnection takes an incredibly long time & usually fails on the first attempt. Totally unacceptable, but by 1030 standards a minor problem. God I miss my edge 1000. Good luck

Out of curiosity is there a reason why you don't return your Edge 1030 and ask for a refund or replacement. I have no problems whatsoever with sensors, so it is possible. Several cadence, speed, different power sensors, Di2, heartrate monitor all work perfectly. The glove issue is not a problem for me and if it was I would buy the right gloves instead of keep complaining. Never install beta versions and I don't connect the 1030 to my Iphone. At a certain moment I concluded that I was done with the constant hassle and to be honest I don't miss anything. I upload my rides via WIFI which works like a charme and is fast. The only real issue I have is the blue halo. I returned my 1030 for this reason last week and waiting for the replacement. I agree with you that Garmin has become very sloppy.

I have a collection of winter gloves (several brands) which cost <£300 * all worked on the 1000. Having (what feels like) wasted £500 on the 1030 which would've been worse if they had the ext battery in stock, I'm very reluctant to spend more when its quite likely I'll give up on the 1030 and 'downgrade' back to a 1000.
What I'm annoyed about on this issue is that some don't have the gloves problem whilst others do and since G bragged in their sales literature about improved screen response with gloves, I cant help feeling that there should be some basis for that claim. Cant sell the unit on (say) ebay as it could be returned for 'not working' with gloves, incident detection, data corruption, failure to link with sensors or anything else it feels like doing. So I'm resigned to a return and the risk of it going back to G who say performing to spec and then a battle with them. So the only realistic option is to bin & buy a 1000 or go the wahoo route which is prob favourite. I really cant really make my mind up, I dont want to do the wrong thing and time is very limited.
  • Perhaps you can find someone with a 1000 who would be willing to trade for your 1030. It's obvious from your numerous complaints about the 1030 that it is not going to work out for you. With the exception of the remote, I'm very pleased with my 1030. I have not had any of the problems you have encountered.

I think that if you encounter the problems as you describe with your sensors an messed up recordings that you are entitled to a refund or perhaps a replacement. Have you tried that instead of complaining here? There are 1030 out there with no problems with sensors and recordings.
