I need help with my Edge 1030

Today I used the Garmin on my bike. No problems. After that I saw that my Garmin was 87% full so I loaded the Garmin.
After I while I saw that the Garmin was off. I tried to put the Garmin on, but everytime the Garmin is turned on it shuts down within a few seconds.
It looks like the Garmin will not pass loading maps etc.
What can I do? I managed to turn on the Garmin so that my computer sees it as an external drive. The soft reset (10 seconds) does not work.

You didn't mention how long you had your garmin so I will assume you have had it for a while.
There is a good chance you have a corrupt file on your garmin.

Create a new folder on your computer. Connect your garmin to your computer. In the garmin folder on your 1030 there is a folder called garmin. Inside this folder there is another called Activities. Open this folder, select all the files, cut and paste them to the new folder on your computer.

Disconnect your garmin from your computer and try and boot it again.

If this doesn't work you may need to do the same thing with the courses folder and perhaps the segments folder. (put them in separate folders on your computer).

Let us know how it goes
  • ...and you can take out your SD-card to see if the problem is there...
  • I made a backup and did a hard reset on the Garmin. That went fine. I put the latest firmware on it and I also updated the map. Everything is fine now, although I cannot understand why the Garmin did not want to start up in the first place. Thanks everybody.
