What are blocks listed in memory management

What are blocks in the Garmin 1030? Is it a limit to IQ data fields?

There is plenty of memory, but seems limited by blocks and no mention of this in the manual. Is it a max number of block allocated to different IQ data field apps, went to update an app and even though it showed plenty of memory it was showing no blocks and said not enough memory?

There is a limit to the number of CIQ apps/data field/widgets you can install. I think the max number is 16, regardless of memory used.
