Identify what corruption causing slow start?

I have an open support ticket, but curious if others have experience this. SOMEWHERE along the line something is corrupting my startup. Happened on a recent trip and I had to reset the device. Prior to resetting I took out my SD card and it started fine. After the device reset things were normal again, until this weekend. It suddenly started starting slowly again. 1m46s to get to the start screen. I removed my SD card again to see if it was the issue and it wasn't...same affect. So now I'm curious what has corrupted the startup path for my device. I want to know what it is rather than just blindly keep resetting my device.

Side note: I wouldn't mind resetting my device IF GARMIN WOULD RETAIN MY DEVICE SETTINGS (profiles and layouts)!!!

I've had similar issues in the past. Start by taking all the course files off your garmin (connect to a computer and save them in a folder somewhere)
Try powering up and see how it goes. If it doesn't work try taking all the activities off your garmin and put them in a another folder on your computer.
Again power up. If that doesn't work repeat for segments.

If at some stage your Garmin does power up ok you can put the files back on your garmin a few at a time until you identify which one is causing the issue.

I've had issues with strava routes in the course folder and with activities.
