Bluetooth Pairing issue

Long story short is that when pairing my iPhone and 1030 it presents the BT_ device first to the phone when the text says it should first be the non BT_ device. If you go ahead it doesn't work. It has worked for 18 months but removing and trying to repair has led nowhere.

1030 6.3
iPhone 6S+ IOS 12.0.1

Have reset 1030
removed and reinstalled connect app
rebooted ad nauseum

Help appreciated

I did all this (multiple times) and it seemed like it was working (it got me further than other attempts), and even said on my iphone that it was connected, but it failed on the edge. I tried deleting and reloading the garmin app to ensure I had the latest version. I shut everything on and off, and followed these steps. No luck.

Odd thing is that 2 days ago it was sort of working (for purposes of showing me texts/calls) but wasn't syncing rides automatically (it had done so in the past, but only erratically), and now i can't get one device to recognize the other. Very frustrating. I welcome any other suggestions.

I followed Tipsta's email from Garmin. Failed until I approved Location for Garmin Connect

My 1000 never skipped a beat.  I've had nothing but problems with my new 1030 failing to connect or pair and send met rides to Garmin Connect.  I generally like Garmin products but after hours and hours on the phone with tech support I'm about to give up.  I'm putting a new panel in my airplane and after this experience it won't be a Garmin system.

This seems to have worked for me - Forget the 1030 in the iphone BT settings first.

Same issue. Lost connection to the phone and wifi today. Uninstalled reinstalled connection. Going through the setup phone registers tge pass code. Then still said waiting for phone. Plugged it into the pc. Wint even register see it. Using a usb adaptor plugged directly into the phone. Still nothing.  Whatever i try the Garmin is not connecting.  Latest cut of software clearly does not work. Its not like these are cheap items.

Tried about a dozen times. Very frustrating. This should be easy-peasy.

The key for me was the (possibly wait a few minutes after the "Select An Accessory" popup appears for your device to show up) comment. It was always showing up blank. Finally it was populated and it paired. THX!

This was the only advice that saved me!  Thanks!  I was pairing through the Bluetooth settings and it didn't work.  When you do it through the app it will ask to "select accessory", I had to wait a bit for the phone to show up, be patient.

    Thanks for the great advice!

  • I was having the same problem.  I rebooted the iPhone.  Started the garmin App started the Edge 1030.  Put both the app and device in pairing and waited 5 minutes.  Eventually they found each other.  I had tried this process many times without success.  I never waited long enough I guess..
