Feature request: please remove the guide in the pairing process

Since we have to re do the pairing every time we use our devices it would be great if the pairing didnt force us to fill in hr zones, which activity profiles to use etc every time.
I know it is a bit early to rely on that most functions from the Edge 1000 actually work since the Edge 1030 is just over a year old.
  • What do you mean you have to 'do the pairing every time we use our devices'?

I've had my 1030 paired to my iPhone for a long time and haven't had to re-pair it once.
  • What do you mean by "fill in hr zones, which activity profiles to use etc"?? I had to re-pair last week, possibly because of IOS12, but I didn't had to do any of that stuff.

GCM asks for HR zones and activity profiles when you reset the 1030. A waste of time as far as I'm concerned as the first thing I do after a reset is to copy the backups I've made of the fit files for activity profiles, settings, locations etc into newfiles so that I have everything as before. And due to the "fragility" (cough, cough) of Garmin software, I do a reset with each firmware upgrade.
  • +1 on this. Since Garmin still has not resolved the BT connection problem I, too, must re-pair my phone (Galaxy S9) before every ride in order for it to connect to the 1030. And I still experience 3-4 disconnects on average during a ride.

Complete pain in the a**. Never had this trouble (nor a blue haloed display) with my 1000. Worst device I've ever owned.

Not only that, I cant tell exactly what causes it, but very often my iPhone Xs is unable to connect with the Edge. I then have to remove the pairing and re pair. On the previous Edges you just paired with two different Bluetooth versions, one required a code and that was it. The Edge 1030 pairing requires that you fill in pulse zones etc every time even though it has been used for 6 months. Even so the pairing takes a long time to complete, if it completes.
My edge 1030 crashed yesterday so I had to erase all data and start over, that pairing went really quick after that. I just have to get used to a reset to defaults on the Edge every three months or so to get a somewhat stable unit.
