6.30 firmware update

Hello,

Just got and installed 6.30 update, a few minutes ago. Still looking into it to see what's new, but couldn't find anything. GPS is 4.40, I don't remember which version was on 6.00.

Any news on this firmware?

Regards,

A. Duarte
  • WOW! This is a huge list of changes :D. Just thinking to return my 1030 as broken/repairable device due unreliable battery indicator, remote dropouts and the halo problem, that is known on 820 for years, haven't been fixed yet. And everybody on this forum should do the same.

Why should I return my device?
I have no problems with my devices i owne most of them Edge, 800, 810, 520, 1000, 100 explorer and last 1030.
every bike has its own device and except the 800 all are still in use. O and me and my wife cycle in total 24000 km / year so i use them allot. Maybe I am lucky but allot also has to do with how you use the divice. If I run into a problem then I reset the device and restore a backup from my nas drive. This happence +/- two times a year.
Again sorry to hear you don’t have luck with your device but I will not returne my devices ????
  • Any indication on when bug related to Battery Indicator being stuck at 100% being fixed? Only solution seems to be after a full charge to do a complete shutdown and restart, very annoying not to have a reliable battery indicator, creates a constant paranoia while riding, it’s a 6.0+ bug that didn’t exist before so I assume it is a relatively easier fix.

    Thanks
  • And as for Garmin device connecting to iPhone for text messages ... I have gone through 5 devices and still hasn’t worked (2 Garmin 1000, 3 Garmin 1030 - 2 I have for home & travel, another needed to be replaced)... I’ve basically given up on this functionality. I have done full resets, I have done same for iPhone (clean install)... nada. It screams another major bug that 2 iPhones and 5 different Garmin devices can’t get this function to work (though phone calls for some strange reason seem to come through, which told me phone and Garmin were at least properly connected)...

Indeed, don't return as long as you have no problem. But if you read the forum, you will see many experience that their "machines" not meet what Garmin had promised them. And with every new model people are atrracted by new features, but are also confronted with new bugs and bugs that were known but still not repaired. My experience with Garmin even goes back before the Edge 800 entered the scene. The same accounts for Garmin's customer service. When compared to the old days, they have become less supportive and responsive to the public that still pay a lot for using their devices. How long will this go on?
  • Really: As a renowned company I wouldn't dare to release a Firmware Update with this kind of "Changelog", while lot's of bugs been reported by the community still unfixed...
Anyone responsible for Corporate Communication at Garmin? It's Unbelievable!

When do we get a reliable Battery Indicator? Is this high sophisticated Space tech?
  • I do confirm that remote control is still working erratic. Very unhappy !

So one change? What's the point. But then every time I turn on my 1030 it wants me to update. The 5.0 and 6.0 updates both killed my Strava segments but besides that were OK here in Australia. What's the point of a firmware release for one minor issue?
  • And the remote control solution for when? This is shame

Yes it is!!! I Agree with you!

    IT IS A SHAME!!!

Garmin has no roadmap for the priority of bugs and functions!

You clearly like collecting Garmins. There are a great many users finding the 1030 falls short of realistic expectation sand garmin are doing SFA to correct the massive range of faults on this their flagship product that was launched > 12 months ago. I was super pleased with my 1000 and bitterly regret 'upgrading'. I'd intended standardising on garmin. As it is, I've upgraded my GoPro, bought more seesense rear lights.and will never buy another garmin product.
Speak as you find, but most of us are finding that we inadvertently signed to an unpaid test programme. I seriously doubt the problems can be resolved and fully expect it to be replaced as unfit for purpose though garmin will never admit that. Garmin showed with power meter battery leakage, a real determination to resolve the problem. If that is the culture it would be mirrored here and maybe it was till they gave up. Which is what I've done.
  • Still can't get my Garmin to Sync with my iPhone even though it is connected. Always errors out. But, my battery indicator works, so that's a bonus, I think.
