I have different experiences with pop-up screens for turn-by-turn directions and cannot resolve. Would appreciate any suggestions. At home I can follow a course and will get pop ups 30 seconds before the turns. It is not 100% of the time, but most of the time. I am using a Ride profile. I have both original North America plus an OSM for Canada maps on the Garmin. While I was on tour in another country (with downloaded OSM maps) I would not get the pop ups. I was using Tour profile. All routes from Ride with GPS. Set up seems to be the same. The only difference I can think of is I created the European routes using OSM Cycle on RWGPS rather than "Map". Unfortunately I will not be able to try in Europe again for some time, but wanted to see if I could resolve (while I still remember what was happening, or not). It was frustrating as it was the time I really needed the pop ups (lots of round about and multiple street options). Thanks for any suggestions.
I'm presently touring Europe using a 1030 with courses created either before I started the tour on RWGPS using the OSM cycle maps, or courses created on the fly on my phone using the combination of Locus and Brouter. I have the Velomap Europe map (created from OSM data) installed on the 1030, and I haven't had any problem with either variety of course with turn indications not appearing.
What version of FW do you have installed (I'm using 6.00), and did you perform a device reset after the last FW upgrade - I do that as a matter of course after each FW upgrade.
Hi AuldNik. I am not sure which version was installed, I believe 5.00, but it was a few weeks ago. I specifically did not install a new version as the 1030 was working fine at home and I did not want to change anything. I am thinking it is something to do with using a TOUR rather than RIDE profile. Will have to try here, or send the 1030 to Europe for someone to try!
