Cycliq Compatibility?

Has anyone here paired an Edge 1030 with Cycliq devices such as the Fly6 and Fly12?

I've managed to pair both the Fly6 and Fly12 to a Edge 1030 but am experiencing the following issues:

1) Fly devices automatically turn on whenever the Edge is switched on - an amazing feature at the start of a ride! But after a ride, when the bike is stationary, Edge is paused but left on and Fly devices are manually turned off, they'll never fail to turn themselves back on within 15 ~ 30 seconds repeatedly.

2) On my Dura-Ace Di2 system, I am unable to change the light modes on the devices via the STI shifters.

What are your experience and how did you resolve or work around them?
  • I have the Fly6CE and have experienced frequent ANT+ signal drops with the 1030. I have contacted Cycliq about this and have acknowledge the problem and are working on it. As a result, I have been using it as a standalone device since it was "forming light network" frequently during a ride.

However, just to clarify, are you saying (in your first question) that they do eventually turn on after 30 seconds?
  • FWIW as further general background on Cycliq and Garmin, I have both the Fly6CE and Fly12CE and the Edge 520 (not the 1030). The Garmin integration there is a total mess, too many issues to list in detail here, but includes frequent "forming light network" dropouts throughout a ride, random turn offs, inability to set light patterns, and more. Cycliq has acknowledged the problems to me in an email but offered no resolution date, of course.
  • Integration with Garmin is awful. I have a Fly 12 CE and a Fly 6 CE. I use an iPhone to adjust the settings, and that is convenient. But I have given up trying to connect with my Edge 1030. I can connect easy enough, but my lights automatically turn on when connected and when on my desk plugged into chargers. I could never get the lights/camera to turn on and off properly using my Garmin when on my bike.. More importantly, keeping the cameras connected to my Garmin kills their battery life. I manually turn the cameras on and off when I get on my bike to maximize battery life. Be sure to also turn off idle mode on the cameras. With it on, I have gotten back from rides to find my rear camera and light off, even when I’ve not stopped anywhere and the batteries are still holding a good charge. The Cycliq CE cameras have been a disappointment. There is a lot of info in the comments at DCRainmaker. https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2017/11/cycliq-fly6ce-fly12ce-first-look.html
  • I gave up on this a long time ago. I have both 6CE and 12CE and just run the lights manually.

I also tried this infact...one of the reasons I switched from Wahoo to Garmin was the integration of the light network. Although I appreciate the 1030 for other things...the cycliq light network is a mess...there was talk of a connect iq app in February awaiting Garmin approval...but I have not seen that appear. I also opted to run it manually as it defeats the purpose if you cant control it...the fly 12 defaults to light off and even if you override it...it somehow reverts.

These pages have links to all the “connectivity apps” including the Connect IQ app. I have it installed, but connectivity is still disappointing. Good luck. https://cycliq.com/blogs/connectivit...d-edition/#ANT, https://cycliq.com/software/

Thanks...that's the light network integration... what I'm talking about is the IQ app...like the one for Bontrager.
  • It took me a while to work this out, but my Cycliq Fly12 is causing interference with my Garmin 1030 GPS. I spent a lot of time working with Garmin, who were fantastic, they replace the unit twice, but the issue persisted. I then discovered I had no problem when I did not use my Fly12. I did a raft of tests, and the final one was to wrap the Fly12 in foil, which provided the added shielding necessary; this is not a practical solution long term.
When I contacted Cycliq, they said that because they had certificates, my Fly12 was ok and they did not believe there was an issue. They then said that there were many threads on the internet that Garmins had problems with other devices. If I sight threads on the internet as proof my device was faulty, they will not accept that.

  • I also have an issue with my 1030 continually losing connection with gps and reconnecting whilst riding in the open, since using a dual mount with the cycliq fly12ce underneath the unit. Also been using the fenix 6 on my wrist at same time with no issues with gps, certainly points to the fly 12ce interfering with the head units as it seems to be a problem with several Garmin and wahoo models.
