FTP test failed by lack of data?

I have been using my Garmin for a longer period. It is auto-calculating my FTP by use of my heartrate belt and my power meter. This time i wanted to do a FTP-test on my indoor trainer. I started the in-built FTP test in the Edge 1030. I followed the program. It was to heavy for me in the 3th and 4th session. I kept on cycling till the end. When i finished i got the message that my FTP couldnt be be estimated because of lack of data.

Wow!!! What went wrong. I dont want to figure this out by running series of exhausting FTP-tests!

Someone on this forum who can help me out?
  • What heart rate monitor are you using?
  • Wahoo Tickr.

I’ve been thinking about this problem. I guess my auto calculated FTP is way to high. It is indicated as 279W. I am pretty sure i cannot hold up to that for even 15 minutes. The auto-ftp value is the start for the ftp test. It wants me to deliver up to 340 watts which i can not deliver.

allthough the ftp test failed my power data and heart rate were saved and i kept on cycling above 200 watts during the test. It just indicated it had insuffiecient data.

Hi I’m having the same problem. Did you ever get this figured out. I have tried the test twice and failed as can’t hold the output it is asking for in the last two segments. Like yourself I don’t want to keep taking the test. Thanks

  • Ok, just a theory but ... I did the same test and had the ssme experience. When I looked at the power graph in Connect the white line showing the FTP test steps (I think that's what it is) did not match the steps in my power output. This may be just a display error but there may also be a mismatch between the directions in the test and what the test is expecting.
