Automatic ride upload via WIFI doesnt work

Since I have bought Edge 1030, I didnt have problem with automatic ride upload till previous firmware update (I think 5.0). Now it doesnt work and there is no chance to upload ride manualy (when I go to history, ride, there is no option for uploading ride). Sometime it helps, when I swicht device off and on, but its random. When I finished a ride today, I waited for wifi, than saved ride and even got the message that ride was uploaded, but it was not. Is this known issue or can I fix it somehow? Automatic upload for wifi is enabled. Bluetooth is off (I tried that with ble on, but no difference)
  • It works perfectly for me with 5.0 and now 6.0. I can stop and safe the ride away from home, leave the edge 1030 on and as soon as I am on my driveway within reach of my wifi network it uploads my ride within a couple of seconds. I consider this as almost the only option of this troubled device that works flawless. It is remarkable to see here that different people have different experiences, not only with this option. The Edge 1030 does use the same hardware and software for all the units, no? I don't understand.


  • This perhaps will not be hardware/firmware thing, when nobody suffers same issue. I am starting to think, that it might do something with corrupt fit file. Is there any way how to check, if any file is corrupted? If not, I might delete all history (Activites folder), will this has affect to anything or is that safe to delete it?
  • Have you tried uploading it via USB and Garmin Express? If it is corrupt, there are some very nice people here that may offer to check and possibly repair the file.
  • I had huge problems with this as well but version 6 of the firmware fixed it. Make sure you are using the latest version.

    Syncing via USB cabel and Garmin Express works, does it mean that there is no corrupted file? I can switch to bluetooth and upload manually too. Only automatic upload doesnt work and upload via wifi at all. Unfortunately I dont know how to find out, if there is any corrupted file in Activities folder so I will delete all files and see if it helps.

    I have recently ( October 2018 ) run into the same issue on my Edge Explore 1000. Wifi used to work perfect, but now fails like you describe. I'm looking for answers too.
  • Mine has never worked unless I totally disabled Bluetooth. From my experience it seems to not attempt wifi usage when it sees a BT connection.

    Mine has been typically inconsistent on this front, I think that since purchasing in June only 3 rides have uploaded all by themselves and they were all after I'd re-paired yet again to try and resolve this problem. Then it stopped and never ever uploaded automatically again. Most of the time I have to upload via usb, occasionally GC sets off the upload perhaps via the phone who knows? Really after 14 months there is no excuse for this situation. I'm sick to death of it all. I even offered a swap to the guy who bought my 1000 unit but he didn't to know and who can blame him. I'd never have 'upgraded' if I'd known what a sad & sorry joke the 1030 is
