Auto Lap by distance - 250m not possible

Auto Lap by distance, the minimum is 1km. Setting of 0,25km (250m) is not possible, but digits available. This setting is required in a velodrome with track length of 250m or other velodrom track distances.
  • I've used the "Auto Lap by position" with success on a velodrome before. In the spirit of Wiggins' hour record 3 years ago, I thought I'd give it a go on an out door velodrome that is open to the public, and see how far a mortal can go in an hour.
Hit the lap button on the first lap, and it auto-lapped every lap from then on. (I think you can set it from start too). It worked pretty well, giving me a time every lap. That was on a 325m velodrome (according to the GPS averaged), and 107 and a bit laps later, I managed to just get a bit over 35km. I'm no Wiggins, but I was relatively happy with that.
Actually, I suspect that Lap by Position is better in that a 250m circuit won't be 250m if you're not on the line, so even if you could set 250m, it would be annoying that it would slowly creep from the start line if you move off the measured line at all.
Actually (part 2), just realised that that was 3 years ago, so I would've been using a 520 or perhaps 510 at the time. Either way, all Edge's have the same functionality so I'm confident that will work with the 1030.

Back when I used to race veterans, I used the auto lap by position on any circuit we raced crits on. Its a nice feature.
  • Yes, I also use "Auto Lap by position" at Cyclocross, Criterium and other outdoor races. It works fine. But the velodrom is an indoor velodrom where GPS not works.
The 250m laps are necessary for analyzing training and races on the black line.
A workaround is to use my fenix3 for analysis. the f3 is been able to set 0,25km laps. I don't understand why this setting on the edge is impossible, it is a computer for cycling:rolleyes:
