Garmin Edge map and round trip routing

Former Member
Former Member
Hi there
may I have some help please?
I have recently bought an Edge 1030.
I have 2 problems.
First problem:
When I go for a ride there is very little detail on the map on the Edge just a blue line showing where I’ve been.
Second problem:
when I try round trip routing I get the following message:
”No route found adjust the routing parameters and try again.”
Ny help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Peter
  • It seems you have activated no map or you are out of range of garmin-cycle-map.
Where was the Edge bought and where do you live?

    Hi the
Thanks for getting back to me.
I’m in north London and I bought the Edge from Amazon.
I can see several maps shown as enabled.
    Kind regards
    Peter
  • Do you see „Garmin Cyclemap EU 2017“ (or 2018) and is it enabled?
If so, and if you have a GPS-fix, you should see a detailed map of your location.

    I have:
    INTL Standard basemap NR
Garmin Cycle Map EU North East 2018.10
    Garmin DEM map EU 2017.20
    Garmin Geocode Map EU 2018.10
    all enabled
  • Garmin cyclemap EU 2018 is divided into 2 maps: NorthEast - and I assume the name of the other part South-West.
(I don‘t use this map(s), so I cannot tell for sure...)
Anyway one map is missing on your device.
I don‘t know which part London is on - but apparently on the othe map which is missing.

Connect your Edge to your PC and start Garmin Express. The missing map should be offered for download.

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it.
  • Hi there,
    I have a similar issue...
I know I have only the north-eastern part of Garmin Cyclemap 2018.20, but I tried to use expresse to download the other part (SW) I was told, that the memory on my 1030 was no large enough to accomodate for the complete map...

I went on and bougth a 64 GB MiniSD Card and inserted it in the 1030. My hope was, that this time Express would suggest using the now available SD-Card (as I have seen in various screenshots of the Express-Application). Unfortunately it does not...

So my question now is: How can I download the whole Garmin Cyclemap 2018.20 (both parts) on my SD-Card? I tried moving the already present north-east part to the SD-Card hoping the other part would just get added but that didn't work either...

Any help greatly appreciated sind I am spending a few days in Itally which definitely is NOT part of north-eastern Europe... ;-)

    Thanks!
  • Maybe this can help you? https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into...fficient-space
The Edge Touring uses the same 'splitted' Garmin Cycle Map (EU).
  • Hi,
I had seen this thread already, but thanks nonetheless...
My problem is, that the SD-Card doesn't seem to get recognized by the 1030, which is why I think Express doesn't offer the option to install on the map on it.

So, is there anything I need to do with an empty SD-Card in order to get it to run with the 1030? It is an 64GB Card. Does it need any kind of prepration? Is a specific format required? Are there folders that are required to be already available on the SD? ... ?

Do I need to use a different app (other than Express) like BaseCamp?

You wrote "to speed up things" one need to insert the card in a PC rather than accessing the card through the 1030, but I currently am not able to do this (I am on vacation...). So are you saying the use of the SD should be possible through the 1030, but that it may take hours? If so, I would be willing to wait that long if I get the result I need at some point in the future...

Any advice is greatly appreciated... THANKS!
  • The mentioned link says:
    a new freshly FAT32 formatted HDSC micro SD-card of 16 or 32 Gb(class 1-6 is fast enough).

As far as I know a 64 GB-card does work as well, but usually they are not formatted FAT32.
And btw - Garmin Express first downloads the maps to a hidden folder on your PC/Laptop and afterwards it copies the files to the SD card. You have to have enough space on your PC/Laptop as well!
