Round Trip functions gives calculation error

Just bought a new Edge 1030. One of the great functions is the round trip function. It lets the Edge 1030 determine possible routes based on your input. But the function does not work. It continously gives a calculation error. Anyone a suggestion? I'm on the latest software and already did a hard-reset.
  • Do you live in Europe at the common border of Garmin EU map A and B?
Or - what map are you using?

Live in Europe and I'm using the routable cycle map of Europe 2018.10
  • There were problems reported when a route crosses the border of Garmin cycle map 2018 - map A to map B.
This might be the problem you have.
Since I do not use this Garmin map, I do not know the exact border line - and I do not know where your roundtrip starts...

Thanks but I do not cross a border. Even when entering 25km going North does not work,

Anyone else an idea? Cause I've tried to contact Garmin support and the only solution was to exchange the device. But the exchange could take a month or so...
  • I saw this problem in some areas (where there are not many nice roads, ie busy roads/highways) when trying to create short routes (<30km), however if I changed the route to approx 50km it was ok.

It seemed to me that with a short route there were not enough options for the algorithm to complete.

Where I live there are a lot of road options and even short routes do not come up with an error.

I use a map and plan my route on Strava, I like control!

I've used multiple inputs when using the function but still get the same message. Although I like control as much as you... I also like the idea that Garmin can surprise me with a route I would normally not select. Thanks for your comment ;-)
