So, I guess this is the basic scenario everybody has in these days. A gpx file is stored at my smartphone and I need to move it to my Edge 1030 via bluetooth. And here we go, the most expensive gps device on the market is failing for this basic function COMPLETLY. What are those developers at Garmin do the whole time, seriously? Please tell me how to get a GPX file from Android/iOS to my Edge 1030 via bluetooth - and no, IQ third party software is not an option. This is a fundamental function a should work in a reliable manner out of the box. If Garmin can not fix this, it will definitly be my last Device from Garmin. SO, please tell me how to get a GPX file wto the Edge via Bluetooth!
Interested in why you do not want to use IQ software. Easily accomplished using Routecourse. Also, you can simply import the GPX file into Garmin connect and transfer it to the 1030.
IQ Software is third party software. I would rely on a third party to get updates, bug fixes etc. Also I do not know what they are doing with my data and I do not want to create yet another user account with another party I don't know. The best example is routecourse. I need a user account, I don't know what they are doing with my data (probably selling because developing software and providing server infrastructure is not for free). And gimported from IQ shop does not work in a reliable manner and often fails to connect via bluetooth.
And please explain to me how I should use Garmin Connect - if I have no internet connection - to get a GPX file from my phone to the Edge via bluetooth. I can not find any way of doing so. And for me this is unbelieveable, to miss such a basic function for such an expansive piece of hardware.
I use Locus/Brouter with offline maps on my phone to create courses, put them as GPX files in Downloads folder, then use the phone and IQ apps to copy them to the Edge.
So, you all just confirm to me that it is not possible to simply send a gpx track from my smartphone via bluetooth to my Edge 1030 that is just 2 meters away. This is unbelievable. This should be one of the most basic functions available. And no, I don't want to create a GPX files on my phone. And using IQ software does not work in a reliable manner and it is untrusty third party stuff. At the end it all confirms to me that Garmin is not really good at software development. No Linux support. The Edge 1030 is crashing and often it hangs up without reasons (no only my experience).
On the iPhone (and I assume there is a way to do it on Android), you can 'share' a GPX file to Garmin Connect Mobile. In GC Mobile the route can be imported as a route and then sent to the Edge.

Yes, a few extra steps, but not difficult.
Yes. I have an android phone and I do the same procedure. Is very easy and all routes are stored in garmin connect.
It could certainly be improved. The only way I know of getting routes off Strava mobile into the 1030 is by going into the Strava App, favouriting the route and then using the Strava Connect IQ App to sync it. If Strava were to allow the app to export a GPX file into Files (on the iphone) it could be picked up using GCM. Actually it would be nice if Strava could sync with Garmin devices over bluetooth directly, removing the need for GCM unless you wanted its features.
