experience with Fw v6.00

Hi there, I don't have this yet, are there any positive/negative feedbacks from those who have tried it already?
Is it worth it?
  • 2 issues:
Something went wrong on the update and my road sport profile got corrupted (1 use 4 screens, but the device was showing 3, and 1 of them completelly blank)...., I tried restoring the original file several times, with no luck, so I ended hard resetting the Edge, all fine now, ...., but 1 hour of work re-configuring all sensors, parameters, etc....,
All in all, not a great upgrading experience Garmin, and not the first time, you really have to work out a better process (and/or an automated way of re-implementing a user config)

2nd issue...., if that was even possible, the remote is going backwards, it is worse than in v5, less stable, more disconnects

Clearly, I shouldn't have updated, waste of time, no new relevant stuff and basic functionality still not working (going from bad to worse)

    Congrats team
  • Edge still does not connect to phone automatically. I always need to activate the connect app on the phone first.
    Kind of uncomfortable.

Ditto. However, the Live Track ended automatically when I stopped the ride (which it hadn't been doing recently), thereby allowing the data to upload straight away. I think I might try disconnecting the 1030 and reinstalling Connect on my mobile, see whether that sorts the auto connect issue.

edge remote continues to work intermittently, I do not understand that they do not fix it, how difficult is it?
  • No LIVE TRACK on today's outside ride.... :-(

Damn it - come on Garmin...!

See https://support.garmin.com/en-AU/?faq=eWswdSH4aC3xrXxmQj7U9A. You can backup the config - screens, profiles, etc, and restore it after performing a reset. I always backup those files as a matter of course before performing any firmware update.

And yet my last two rides Live Track and Group Track worked flawlessly, and the last ride was a 125 miler in and out of phone service :) It can be frustrating at times.
  • Everything works well except bluetooth auto connection with my phone, I first have to open the app to get it to connect. The last time this worked was with firmware 4.0. I have the speed sensor, Vector 3 power meter and the premium chest strap connected. Grouptrack also works properly in this release.

    Thanks, that helps.
It is still a very manual/cumbersome process with too many steps (easy to overlook or miss one), shouldn't be hard to automate that given that it's a too frecuent need

    Rob-Tech,

Try the following and see if it helps. In IOS 11.4.1 ( or the equivalent in Android) go to Settings, Privacy, Location Services and set the Connect app to ALWAYS. For some reason Garmin uses location service to setup the Bluetooth connection. Let me know if this helps.
  • No Group Track, everybody see me and I see no one
No shutdown, stay on the Off logo (==> soft reset)
