New Public Beta 5.33 Now Available

A new Beta software for the Edge 1030 has been released. Full change log, instructions, and software for installing the beta can be found here.

For any issues that you encounter please fill out the form included in the download and attach it to an email to [email protected]. Please note that you may not get a response to the email unless we need more information on the issue you report.
Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.

[h=4]Changes made from version 5.28 to 5.33:[/h]

Fixed a potential freeze when powering off.
Fixed CIQ custom fonts.
Fixed several CIQ Menu2 issues.
Fixed an issue that could prevent a radar low battery message from displaying.

[h=2]Installation Instructions[/h]

Connect your Edge 1030 device to your computer using the micro-USB cable.
Download and unzip Edge1030_533Beta.zip and place the GUPDATE.gcd file in the \Garmin folder of your device's internal storage drive.
Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the Edge, and wait for the update to finish.
If you would like to revert to the last public release software, follow the above steps but place the GUPDATE-500.GCD file in the \Garmin folder. Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device.
NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.

This was the first beta to essential trash my Edge 1030. I just spend the last 2 hours reverting to the last official release, setting up all my activity screens again, and repairing my Vector 3 pedals, iPhone, and other Ant+ devices.

The install of 5.33 went normally and seemingly smoothly. But when I tried to use my Edge today, it initially had trouble calibrating my Vector 3 pedals (auto calibrate on) and would hang until ultimately giving me an error 1024, (load on pedal) despite the fact that I was unclipped from the pedals. I ultimately gave up and decided to just ride. Then, the Edge would crash and reboot whenever I hit the ride button to display activity pages.

Hopefully, my issues will be resolved with the next release.

I am quite happy with this, had no major problems, but two funny ones.

Rode home from work last night and my wife received 3 emergency calls which I was not aware of. I did not crash or had any incidents at all. Don't know why this happened.

When I turn the unit off it stays in turning off mode showing the turning off icon for several minutes and then turn it self on again.

I am also quite shocked because it seems that the sharing of Live Track to Twitter and on mail seems to be working at least for the last two rides. Have not been stable for me since the start of the summer.

Have not had any other problems with this release, but I do miss one thing: When riding at night and you start a segment the screen lights up, but at the end of the segment I just get the finished signal and the screen does not light up. Quite annoying when riding at night.

It would appear that the Indoor Cadence Summary (Avg, Max) is now showing correctly whereas in the 5.0 release version of the firmware it was not, which is looking a lot better although it has only been tried once since the 5.33 beta version of the firmware was installed, but is none the less looking promising.
