Altimeter: accurate values are displayed but wrong values are stored

During the ride the edge shows (very accurate) altitude readings, but it stores other (wrong) values (SW Vers. 5, recording interval 1sec) in the protocol and in GC.
I made several screenshots during a ride - the difference seams to increase with the height.
Maybe this also influence the reported wrong calculation of the "Total Ascent" value? (after may ride the value for Total Ascent displayed and stored are exactly the same)

I have reported suspicion of incorrect vertical feet recorded and shown after ride - always less than planning tools, or official data for events. But, no interest from Garmin, or generally... Similar to you I have pictures of me with bike at 10,000' elevation road signs, and the Edge 1030 at the spot showed approximate correct altitude, but once looking at ride after completion, it reports max altitude well below...
  • I took a look inside the fit files and found some strange coincidence:
During a ride stooped at 1899m to move my bike over a barrier (and took a photo which shows the altitude) at GC I read an altidude of 1861m.
The fit file (converted to txt with https://fit2tcx.runalyze.com/temp/) shows around the time I stopped: [TABLE="border: 0, cellspacing: 0"]

If I calculate the altitude with the forumlar from thisisant.com (Scale = 5, Offset =500)
    11809/5 - 500 = 1861.8 which is the GC value
11994/5 - 500 = 1898,8 which is the value on the display of the Edge 1030

At the top of the mountain (where GC steal about 50m from me) [TABLE="border: 0, cellspacing: 0"]

The calculated value is 13182/5-500=2136.4m (on the summit cross is written 2142)

I did the same with the other file where I made several screenshots: the filed "unknown61" shows the displayed and correct(!) altitude.

@Garmin: what is this? Is it possible to fix this Bug?
  • Is this Bug solvd with V600?
  • V6.3 Bug still there or is it solved?
@Shawn-Garmin: does garmin care about such very basic functions?
