Updated to 5.27 and just been out for a 1hr ride. A good 9 random shutdowns that I have not experienced before since very early versions. This is the most ever, I only saw one actually happen - the screen when off instantaneously then the Garmin splash screen quickly flashed on and off again. Device stayed off until powered on again. Unusable-going back to 5.0

    Used with:
    Varia RTL 510
    Vector 3
    Garmin HRM
    Bontrager speed sensor

    Update 13.08.18
Have followed the instructions posted by bert269 in the thread "1030 turns off during ride" and it seems to have fixed the shutdown issue. Komoot IQ app is broken, unable to view or download routes, - Error 400.
Power off issues, doesn't want to power off fully - leaves a logo on the screen, having to long press the power button to get this to disappear.
  • Alas, remote issues still present.
During a ride (course navigation active) with bluetooth active, iPhone 8 with latest iOS 11 paired, livetrack and grouptrack active, the remote is not working. Garmin Connect on iPhone also latest version.
Only one in a while it reacts on a key press, sometimes twice but then not etc etc. Frustrating. Happy that uploading after ride through BT and GC on phone is now working, livetrack now also works ok, grouptrack seems to work as well. Now, please get the remote sorted...
Note: as mentioned previously, I still have the idea that course calculation for navigation is slower on this beta than on the 5.00 firmware (same maps active, only default Garmin maps).

Today four hours route and the remote control has failed as always, nothing has been solved.

The Bontrager RT tail light does not work the same and the battery lasts less,The pattern of flashing has changed, I have tested with the V5 and the flashing pattern is fine, so it is a problem of V5.27
  • Did a 4 hour, 114km ride today. The device worked flawlessly. Livetracking started and stopped as expected (connected to iPhone 8), uploading the ride too, no crashes or other issues. The only problem is the device won't shut down, but this is already confirmed to me by Garmin, and will be solved. Can't wait for the final firmware.

What exactly do you mean by "the pattern of flashing has changed"? Do you have your light(s) set to auto or individual mode? Have you tried individual mode and set it to your previous/desired mode? The selected flash mode in individual should not change on its own. Also, do you have your light set to start automatically when you start a ride (activate with timer)? I'd sure like to know if this is functioning correctly since it was broken for me in v5.0. The lights would not come on automatically, even after the light network formed.

I mean it flashes differently and the battery lasts less, I've been doing tests and with the V5 it works fine, but with V5.27 no.

  • I'm guessing that the Connect IQ interface has changed in the new release and that app you are using to control lights may need to be updated by Bontrager. If you try controlling the lights using the Edge network rather than the Bontrager Connect IQ app do you see the same issue?
  • Massive powermeter drop-outs on a small indoor test today... :-(

    Reverting to v5.00

  • The 1030 crashes when bluetooth is on at the start (only if ble is enabled, not bt). iPhone with ios 11.

All this shows are two different modes, it still doesn't answer the question(s). How is your network setup on the Edge? (pull down control panel) Do you have your lights set for Auto or Individual mode? The flash/double flash mode is normal for daylight flash if selected (Individual mode) or if you are riding in daylight conditions and have Auto selected. Battery life differs depending on the flash mode selected. If you are using it, disregard, or uninstall, the Bontrager Connect IQ app as it has never worked properly anyway. I recommend setting your light(s) to Individual mode and the flash mode you prefer. And, again I ask, does your light setup start automatically when a ride is started?
