[h=2]Installation Instructions[/h]
  • Connect your Edge 1030 device to your computer using the micro-USB cable.
  • Download and unzip Edge1030_527Beta.zip and place the GUPDATE.gcd file in the \Garmin folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  • Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the Edge, and wait for the update to finish.
  • If you would like to revert to the last public release software, follow the above steps but place the GUPDATE-500.GCD file in the \Garmin folder. Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device.
NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • The autosave function does not work anymore. Once there was a message about disconnecting the right power sensor. I did not notice the continuous disconnection and reconnection of Di2.
  • I checked the alternative display and once I synced up my 935, I was able to see a screen with my 935 data. This will be great in a triathlon where I'm more concerned with the data from my watch. In the past I always have a bike computer so I can see my power. Now I can see all the important data from my watch also. For fun, I loaded up a simple course I made and was surprised how detailed the map was. Turn information was good although data did lag a bit at times.
  • Hi Garmin Team,

please solve the issues with preference for a cycling device!
No one needs sufisticated functions like phone or remote connection before the basics function are not implemented! as there are:

1- Data managment. Still it is not possible to group routes in folders (like Road; MTB; gravel)
2- History. it ist not possible to group the history by date (like in 705). It is incredible, that I need a calculator to know the Km or the ascendent for a tour during one week! This is not acceptable for a device on this price segment!!!!!!!
3- Why is it not possible to add CIQ-datafields to the map view?

    Please implement this issues!

    Thank you
  • 1 and 3 would be nice, but I don't agree with 2. Now are connected features what are all devices about. Edge can be just a stupid tracker, with basic statistics during a ride. For deeper analysis you have to look on GC/Strava/TP/.

More important is easier planing of rides + modification of a route on the fly. At least it could be possible to start Komoot during ride (yea, the garmin "planer" is a bad joke) - for example when I am in middle of a ride and want to change a planed route. It is not possible to start IQ app during an activity and in buildin navigation I can select only destination...

And remote? It is just an another stupid sensor and it needs to work reliable as many years ago on other edge devices. It really doesn't make sense why so big company does such stupid errors. They don't have automated tests and team of testers?

LifeTrack is another feature that needs a bit love from Garmin. They havent touch it for years and current beta software starts ans stops livetrack on end of a ride - completely useless.
  • no problems with installation, gcm ok, vector 3 also no problems.
  • It looks like course calculation is now slower (when compared to 5.00)? Hmmm, perhaps my imagination, see below.
On a positive note: bluetooth connection with phone (iOS 11 latest version, iPhone 8) works again and sending courses from phone via Garmin Connect to the 1030 works again also. Happy with that!

Edit: still significantly faster than the 820. Should have done some timings before the update...
  • After installing the 5.27 firmware, the device can not be turned on. During the start of the device, it resets during "Loading courses, workout, and locations..." screen,
    Di2 - OK.
Vector 3 - one time the message about disconnecting the right sensor and before the calibration the left sensor had 50% lower reading than the right one. After calibration, OK.

Apart from wanting to pair yet again to my phone, it all seems to have gone smoothly AND at last that irritating fit file of 'unrecognised format' is finally no more and TFFT. Presumably similar to the unneeded maps for install problem(s).
  • Edge can be just a stupid tracker

What???? a stupid tracker for 500 Euros?

I have done a tour during one Week. At the end of the day i want to see the acumulated values without take a calculator or a laptop or a smartphone (not allways is there an access to internet!). Therefore I bought a sufisticated device which could do this as well!!!!

  • I can confirm EDGE remote issues still is present on beta 5.27.... :-(

My Godness - we are almost a year in after introduction...!

Disconnecting BT on phone solves the issue.
