  • Fixed issue with the device where going into mass storage from a power off state may cause Garmin Express to offer a map update that the device does not need.
  • Improved Physio TrueUp responsiveness by syncing with the phone after powering up or resuming from suspend.
[h=2]Installation Instructions[/h]
  • Connect your Edge 1030 device to your computer using the micro-USB cable.
  • Download and unzip Edge1030_527Beta.zip and place the GUPDATE.gcd file in the \Garmin folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  • Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the Edge, and wait for the update to finish.
  • If you would like to revert to the last public release software, follow the above steps but place the GUPDATE-500.GCD file in the \Garmin folder. Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device.
    NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • Installed 5.27. Now Edge 1030 won't turn off. When turning off, the display goes black, the "power off" icon appears (circle with the stripe), but the device won't shut down. When I press the power button for 10 seconds, the device restarts. I see no way to power it down.

    Same problem, after many tests of shutdown I managed to turn it off, at least I hope I will find out tomorrow morning when I quit the charge.
  • Just returned after a 100 km ride. Just after update the whole interface had a bit lag, but during the ride I haven't notice any kind of slownes or remote dropouts (as with 5.0...sometimes without issue). Only two issues - livetrack started few minutes later, have no idea why and after I ended the ride the stop screen freezed, only hard reboot helped. After reboot I was able to save it
  • Update:

    - Wifi and phone connection turned off: shutdown ok
    - wifi off and phone on: shutdown ok
    - wifi on and phone off : shutdown ok
    - wifi on and phone on: shutdown fails
  • WOW, looking promising! I don't have any current complaints/issues (other than the lack of Galileo, still);
  • I thought Galileo support is hardware limited? Does the GPS chip in 1030 support Galileo?

    Following problems observed with 5.27. Before using the 1030 after the update, I performed a device reset as the first thing after installation of the FW:

    1. When the 1030 powers on, I now get a warning msg about incident detection being turned off in GCM, and have to dismiss it before I can start. I have turned it off deliberately, as having it on leads to numerous false alarms. There needs to be an option in settings to disable this msg. I've also had the message suddenly appear in the middle of a ride, while riding a course, which presumably indicates yet another false alarm from the 1030.

    2. When navigating a course, the 1030 always starts on the map screen. Until I have swiped away from this screen, I never get the “Dist. To point” and “Time to point” fields appearing at the bottom of the screen as each turn approaches, no matter no matter how many turns I ride through. The top of the map screen does show distance to next turn and direction of turn, and updates this after each turn. As soon as I swipe to another screen, for all the succeeding turns the 1030 changes back to the map screen for each turn and displays the “Dist. To point” and “Time to point” fields, and continues to do so when I swipe back the the map screen.

    3. While moving, the distance to next turn at top of screen decrements until the “Dist. To point” and “Time to point” fields appear, at which time the distance indication at top of screen freezes while the fields at bottom of screen decrement. Don't know if this is a bug or by design, but it means there are two different turn distance indications on the screen.

    3. The position as indicated by the “Dist. To point” and “Time to point” fields, and the location of the map pointer on the map, lags reality by about 30 metres. When the “Dist. To point” and “Time to point” fields appear, saying 70m to point, I'm at about half that distance, and they don't decrement to zero until I am several seconds and 20-30m past the turn. This definitely presents a problem when navigating a course with a succession of turns close to each other, as a turn can be missed because one is past it before it is indicated by the GPS.
  • Nope, nothing relevant for me in fixed issues and added new features. It is a high end cycling computer with navigation capabilties. Make the connections with the sensors reliable please and by sensors I mean relevant sensors for training: power, cadence, heart rate, speed. Solve the current navigation issues some people have. Why should my phone be connected with the 1030?
  • First round with the beta 5.27 and appeared signs of loss of the right pedal with vector 3 thing never happened with v.5.00, we will see other laps.I also realized that the file fit of the lap was damaged.

    It looks like the segment issue from a few months ago hasn't been fixed, where the time ahead/behind was jumping around.
    It looks like the altitude issue on courses longer than 100km hasn't been addressed.
    It looks like the issue with distance to destination freezing or reverting to the original course length hasn't been addressed.
    I could go on but...
    Normally I'd be one of the first beta testers but I won't touch this one that seems like it has been put out because people are starting to get antsy.
