How to stop course guidance without ending ride?

Why can I not stop my course guidance without completely stopping my ride and starting a new one? This is ridiculous and seems like such an obvious feature.

For example, Saturday I was on a ride following a 70 mile course someone created. There was no obvious way to stop the route guidance and just continue riding. We had to end the ride early so I had to ride off course, my only option was to completely stop and save the ride. Then start a new one. This is annoying and counter intuitive.

When I have wanted to stop using the navigation route, I have hit the little X on the map view and a confirmation comes up do you want to stop navigation?

Yep, just press the red X on the map screen. Edge devices are really great - you can start/stop navigation and do any training in middle of a ride. Not like on Forerunner/Fenix... These features I really would like to have on running/multisport equipment.

You can also swipe down from the top of the screen to bring up the control pages. If you scroll through the control pages you will see an option to stop navigation.

On the EDGE 530 just Press the top right button to bring up the context menu. One of the options will be stop course if one is running.

Hi,

in my case I don't have an X sign, I have a II (pause) sign. Any solution (I am forced to calculate a random route that stops the previous one, and then yes, I have the "X", but it's not very practical.

To end the course if you have no „x“ but „ll“:

swipe down the screen to open context menu, press right arrow on bottom, stop the course.

Thank you. I still don't understand why in some cases I do have the "X" and in other cases I don't, but it works.
