Garmin 1030 - Maps on SD Card

A friend of mine is travelling to Australia shortly, so I have put some maps on a 32GB Micro SD Card for her. The card is FAT32 formatted and I created a folder on the card called Garmin and dropped the gmapsupp.img file into that folder. I tried the card in my Garmin 800 and it worked just fine and I could see the maps were available and enabled. However when I put the card into her Garmin 1030 the maps are not showing up on the Map Information to allow me to enable them. Can anyone suggest why the maps work on the Garmin 800, but not the Garmin 1030?

I believe the maps are tied into the serial number of the device - so you can not bypass the licensing. I suggest that you put OSM on there instead.

Are'nt the maps on the 1030 installed in a folder named "Maps" in stead of "Garmin"? So make a folder ..\Maps if not already present on the SD-card and put the gmapsupp.img in there.Trying does'nt hurt...

It would work whether in Garmin or Map folder, so if it doesn't work in Garmin it won't in Map.
