Garmin please fix - memory for backlit and autobrightness not retained after charging

Fw 5.0. I turned brightness to 0%, auto brightness off to conserve of battery during long rides and I want to maintain it that way without backlight since I have no trouble reading the screen. However after unplugged from charging, even though the device will continue to say 0% brightness and auto brightness off, now backlit is turned back on and will stay on! I now have to raise the percent up and then back to 0% and flip the autobrightness on and then off again each time after recharge. Reproducible every single time. Your programmer probably forgot to run the display setting routine and parameters after unplug from charging. Frustratingly high number of bugs for a flagship device that costs $600. Garmin please put some programmers on fixing the numerous bugs you read on this forum one by one. Thank you for fixing it in advance.
  • Same here with the Edge 1030.
The Edge 1000 has exactly the same issue. I belive this bug was introduced with the latest firmware 14.70 which should improve the backlit.
  • Same problem here, however please remember that we should raise a ticket instead of just writing to the forum as it increases the odds of the issue being fixed in a timely fashion.
  • Using 1030 with fw 5.0 and no problem with backlight and autobrightness. Settings are retained, even after charging.

    Not true.
We all have fw 5.0 and problems with backlight and brightness are repeated in many configurations.
Especially in combination with Garmin power pack and unplugging for charging.

True. What I mean to say is: the problem doesn't seem to occur for all users, as I don't have this problem. It might be a problem for some users or in some configurations.
  • Just want to add: device had been updated to fw5, resetted, and problem persisted. This is an extremely easy to reproduce problem and Garmin should check their routine that's activated when device is plugged in - that step turns the brightness to 50% and likely forgot to turn it back to 0% or whatever % it was at when the device is unplugged. My recommendation to Garmin is just use whatever brightness user had selected during charging - stop turning it to 50%! For those who claim you have no such problem good for your 1030 but perhaps 50% is your norm and where you like it? If you want to replicate our problem turn it to 0% auto brightness off, plug in charge to full, unplug and you may see yours behave the same.
