Route Calculation Error

I have an Edge 1030 which sometimes displays "Route calculation error".
The odd thing is that is does it when I'm NOT following a route, I'll just be crusing along on my own route with my Garmin running, flagging up live Strava segments as they come up.
I very rarely follow any routes or courses.
I'm in the UK and my Edge is on software version 5.

Any idea what might be causing this please ?
Any solution ?

I'm using some Open Source Maps from 'Talky Toaster'

I build my own OSM based maps and I also get that error. i have no idea what the cause is, but it never really caused an issue. Just a strange thing. If there is a solution I would love to know but has not caused an issue really.

I had this calc error. It's ALL about which maps you enable and disable. I have Garmin N America version. I enabled all maps then disabled the Basemap and also the Garmin DEM map and the route calc error didnt come back when I downloaded my ridewithgps routes

Can you please share how to enable and disable maps? I am in Canada.

PTFADIfrom the home screen, tap the three bars at the lower left, select -> Activity Profiles -> any profile -> Navigation -> Map -> Map Information -> "enable/disable" maps as desired.
