Calories are showing double what they should be

[h=2]I got my new 1030 the end of June and the first ride on July 1 I noted that for only 18 mile ride, the calories were showing over 850 which seem extremely high given my son and I were riding on a bike path (flat) in Steamboat Springs, CO. Did numerous other rides, including a 3:13 ride this past Sat for 47 miles and the calories were showing 2801. I went in and checked my personal max heartrate as when I got the device, I set my max at 178, and resting HR at 52. When I went and checked the settings again, the Max HR was at 278 and no resting was input which I changed back to what I had when I got the device. I had downloaded the software upgrade 5.0 I think the end of June about 3 or 4 days after I got the device. I did a ride short ride using my Garmin Edge 1000 over a same route I'd ridden with the 1030 and the calories were almost exactly double between the two devices. I am assuming that when I updated to software upgrade 5.0, that it wiped out my resting HR input and changed my Max HR as well. There's obviously a glitch in that software. Anyone else seeing similar problems with calorie readings on the 1030??[/h]
  • Whatever changed, happened around the 4th March....as typical rides before then were seemingly accurate. Firmware update around then ? I would love to say I was burning 3000 calories for a 2 hour ride, but I think that is over optimistic (whilst putting effort in...not that much!!).
So, I agree, something is not quite right...but it has not bugged me enough to raise a ticket. I'd rather Bluetooth connectivity, live tracking, incident detection, sharp turn notification, data uploading, sensor dropouts all be fixed first.
