Updated the edge 1030 from 3.2 to 5.0 this morning. Now the unit wont even power on Garmin Screen shows up for 2 seconds, goes blank, shows back up again, then turns off. Holding down the lap button only silences the process. Tried couple different chargers and computer holding various buttons down, computer does not recognize it at all anymore.

Any ideas?
  • Hello,

I had exactly the same situation, probably something to do with 5.0 update as some reports of frozen 1030. I had to send mine to service, I was not able to do anything with it.

    Regards,

Try shutting the Bluetooth off on your phone, then reboot.. Sounds like how mine was behaving..

I was able to get it working again by doing a hard reset - Holding both lap and start buttons for 10 seconds and powering it on. It however erased everything and I had to restart from scratch.

Non-prompted Non-Vol Clear - Clears NV and deletes all FIT files including Activities, Courses, Workouts.
    Turn device off
    Hold Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
Press and release the power button
Continue to hold only Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
Release Lap/Reset and Start/Stop when the Garmin Logo is cleared
The unit will restart and clear non-vol

I wasn't that lucky. After doing the upgrade to 5.0 the Edge 1030 shows the splash screen, makes the noise and then shuts down.

Tried turning off the Bluetooth on my phone, but it won't work.

I have tried to put it on Mass Storage Mode on my Mac, but the device turns off a couple seconds after starting.

Do you have any tips/tricks for this situation?

    Best regards from Brazil!
  • Airpopoff. Just as a matter of personal interest. After a hard reset and erasing all data on the Garmin does syncing with Garmin connect install that data back on?
