Next firmware after v5.00...?

I was wondering... It's been over a month now since 5.00 was released. And although it works quite well for me, it still has it's hickups (live-track, di2 connection, Edge remote to mention a few)

Shawn-Garmin

Anything new - beta or stable release?
  • Yeah it works pretty well for me to, other than the Di2 dropout reconnect every 10 mins and unless I have missed something Garmin haven't even acknowledged that that is a problem :(
  • I will add files sharing between two Edge 1030 that is not working... Was working (!) before 5.0...
  • I will reach out and see if I can get a status on the next update. YosserY2k we have not had success reproducing the Di2 drop outs some are reporting. Please reach out to our support team and we will continue to investigate. If you could provide some .fit files where you had Di2 drop outs on a ride that would be helpful. cactus2002b I will mention device to device transfers are still a concern.
  • Here's one... BT was disconnected untill the last km.

I had re-connecting DI2 several times :-( I suffer this issue on almost every ride I do... So please look into it Shawn-Garmin

    PS
Each time DI2 reconnects, it also makes a lap when pressing the buttons on the hoods although the button is set to change the screen. This is quite annoying when in an interval.

    Thanks
  • Any update here on next build Shawn-Garmin ?

I don't think a new firmware will be released as soon as Tour de France is still ongoing;).
Too risky to create a mess in this race.
  • Hi Shawn-Garmin, I have the same Di2 drops, showing "Shifting Mode S1" over and over again, and also beeping (which is irritating since I always think it was the radar detecting a car).
My Setup Edge 1030, Dura Ace Di2 9150, Varia Vision, Varia Radar, EW111, Vector 1
It seems, these are not dropouts but repeating reconnects (wasnt with FW < 5.0 and the Edge 1000 I had before)
  • Shawn, appreciate that you're taking the time to at least input to this.

Yes, I have already submitted a ticket, and to honest the response was extremely disappointing to say the least

    My ticket outlined
    Hi Support,
Prior to the recent update to Version 5 software, my Edge1030 did not have this problem.

On every bike ride since the update, the Di2 connection gets dropped and reconnects again within 10-30 secs. This is happening every 5 - 15 mins.

Typically my bike rides are 2 hours plus, so this is extremely annoying. I have also noticed I get a constant notification on the very top of the Edge 1030 "Di2 mode 2" I understand what the message is, but it shouldn't be every 5-15 mins

On several occasions I have also received the message "Di2 Battery Low", and on checking found the battery to be fine and not even close to being low. I have checked all my Di2 connections, updated all the parts software to latest versions via Etube.

I have just completed a 61K ride, but on this occasion I used myEdge 810, and. . . . there were no drop outs whatsoever. This leads me to conclude one of two possibilities, it is either Software on the Edge 1030, which an update will rectify via your techies, or Hardware, which I need to return the defective unit? If I can give you any more information don't hesitate to ask
    Thanks Alan

    As others here are reporting the same issue it can only be software. Worthy of Note #Edge 810 no drops Edge 1030 constant drops {disconnect /reconnect}

I have also received the message "Di2 Battery Low",

I can confirm both of this too, "Di2 mode 1" or "Di2 Schaltmodus S1" in german ... I also had the Di2 battery loaded to 100% and edge 1030 showed "battery low". I charged the battery right after my ride just to find out it was still full.
