Using Edge 1030 on a motorcycle

Hi,
Next week I am going to do a trip in Europre on a motorcycle. Its a ~2000 miles long trip, and I was thinking about the possibility to use my Edge 1030 as a navigation tool. I have the gpx file which is 1.6 Mb. Will the Edge 1030 be able to handle it? Can I navigate without recording the trip?

Why have the 2000 mile route as one file?

If navigation poops at mile 1800, wouldn't you'd rather not have to recalculate the 1800 miles you don't need?

The Edge will record your route, but you can delete it after the ride. I agree that you should segment your trip. What is the chance that you won't want to vary the course at some point?

Its going to take the 1030 an awfully long time to calculate directions for a 2000 mile trip.

More likely, it will fail.

(There's no reason to do that anyway.)

Surely youd do that to get turn by turn directions although I agrree its got a low chance of success.

Its been over a week, maybe the OP can tell us if they tried it.
