GPS Chipset in Edge 1030

Dors anyone know what GPS chip the 1030 uses?
Galileo has just been added to Fenix 5 series via firmware update and was wondering if we’ll be as lucky.

I would be tempted to believe as the 1030 came after the f5 that we could also be positively surprised. A previous topic asking ProClimb and Galileo has disappeared (moderated?) may be this is a positive sign.

I'm not in anny way saying that you are wrong but I think a source for thst info whould be good.

The specs for the MT3333 are correct and that’s what’s in the F5 and F5+, bit haven’t seen confirmation as to which chip is in the Edge 1030.

mt6630 is WIFI/BT4.1/ANT+/GPS SOC - https://www.mediatek.com/news-events/press-releases/mediatek-announces-mt6630-worlds-first-five-in-one-combo-wireless-connectivity-soc-for-mobile-devices

And yes, it supports Galileo as any other GPS SOC they use for their watches for ages.

Interesting that it supports 5GHz and Garmin didn't enable that in the 1030. Galileo would be great to have, after all the software and hardware issues we could do with some positives.

He didn't. He was just looking at the strings in the firmware file (he was root on a machine on which he run strings).
